*Note- my highly scientific study has just determined that you have a 33% chance of seeing an architect in a Hallmark movie.
In this movie, reporter Kendra finds an engagement ring at an antique store and wants to research its backstory. She ends up working with Michael (our fourth architect of the season), the grandson of the ring's owner. Michael has just been through a very public, painful breakup and questions Kendra's motives for wanting to research his family. (You see where this is headed, right?)
I really enjoyed this movie. The story, while Hallmark familiar, was different enough to keep me interested. I liked the mystery of the ring and watching the characters dive into the past. I loved the small town of Pine Grove, and the cast of characters was fantastic.
Hallmark gets an A on: reminding me about microfilm research; David Alpay (Michael); Nazneen Contractor (Kendra); small town; the sleigh; the car; the Christmas baking; the dress; Kendra's styling for the dance; the ending
Hallmark gets a D on: Kendra's boss
Grade: A
* Note Grading Scale:
A = This is seriously a good movie. It will remain on my DVR for the season.
B = Totally exceeded my expectations. I'm happy to recommend.
C = This is an average Hallmark movie. Good holiday fun.
D = I'm disappointed... but I watched it. Why not?
F = I actually had a hard time getting through this one. And that says a lot.
