In this movie, Zoey is a doctor who takes temporary assignments so that she doesn't have to settle down in one place. She spent 15 years as a doctor in the army, and she is haunted by a patient that she couldn't save. Zoey takes a two-week position in Willow Brook, a charming town where the nicest people in the world live. There, she finds a love interest and the closure that she needs to end her wanderlust.
This movie is incredibly well-done. The characters are all likable, and it tugs at the heartstrings just enough. It is also guaranteed to make you want to move to a small town immediately.
Hallmark gets an A on: Holly Robinson-Peete (Zoey); Adrian Holmes (Luke); Willow Brook; the writing; the father-daughter relationship; the tree lighting; the diner; the take-out reindeer; Dr. Johnson; Campbell's ad placement (Cream of Mushroom this time!); Christmas Eve dinner
Hallmark gets a D on: potentially the medical stuff, but given that I know nothing about medicine, it doesn't bother me that systemic (she said systematic in the movie, which was annoying) nickel allergy syndrome is probably far-fetched. Besides, I googled it, and it does exist.
Grade: A
* Note Grading Scale:
A = This is seriously a good movie. It will remain on my DVR for the season.
B = Totally exceeded my expectations. I'm happy to recommend.
C = This is an average Hallmark movie. Good holiday fun.
D = I'm disappointed... but I watched it. Why not?
F = I actually had a hard time getting through this one. And that says a lot.
