Initially, I did not love the premise of this movie. I was predicting a mother-in-law-wedding-planner-run-amok plot line, and I wasn't looking forward to the Christmas wedding chaos. I was pleasantly surprised when the wedding was not front and center, and the movie focused instead on rekindling a romance from the past. The characters were all likable, and the mystery of why Beau snubbed Joan all those years ago kept me interested. Now- should Beau's brother have used this horrific car accident story for his daughter's wedding toast? Probably not. But at least we solved the mystery.
Hallmark gets an A on: Charlie the concierge; the snowman contest; the ferris wheel; Joan's mom; the scenery; the outdoor wedding (despite the cold)
Hallmark gets a D on: Beau's editor (he calls way too much); the corny wedding vows; the father of the bride's speech (necessary for the plot, but a bit of a downer maybe?)
Grade: B
* Note Grading Scale:
A = This is seriously a good movie. It will remain on my DVR for the season.
B = Totally exceeded my expectations. I'm happy to recommend.
C = This is an average Hallmark movie. Good holiday fun.
D = I'm disappointed... but I watched it. Why not?
F = I actually had a hard time getting through this one. And that says a lot.
