Good Morning Christmas! | C

Hallmark Channel Premiere | November 25, 2020

With five minutes remaining, this movie just took a very sinister turn.

In this movie, Melissa and Brian are co-hosts of a popular morning show, but Brian has asked to get out of his contract because they don't get along. As a last hurrah, their producer asks them to spend a week filming in Mistletoe, Maine, where they will participate in Christmas festivities and announce their final show together on Christmas Eve. In the grand tradition of small towns, Mistletoe teaches the pair how much they like each other by engaging them in gingerbread contests, three-legged races, tree lighting ceremonies, ice skating, and everything else that is festive.

I really enjoyed the first hour and fifty-five minutes of this movie. It was cute and headed for a B. However, I immediately downgraded it to a C when Melissa and Brian's producer decided to invade their privacy by turning on their mics and hiding cameramen in the bushes to broadcast their romantic Christmas date to the entire world without their knowledge. It all felt creepy and weird, and I hated it.

Hallmark gets an A on: the rooms at the Mistletoe Inn; Alison Sweeney (Melissa); Melissa's pajamas; the Balsam Hill advertisement (aka tree decorating scene); the ice skating scene; the Christmas wishes

Hallmark gets a D on: the amicable breakup (just once I would love to see a more realistic breakup scene involving tears and irrational screaming); the reality show ending

Grade: C

* Note Grading Scale:

A = This is seriously a good movie. It will remain on my DVR for the season.

B = Totally exceeded my expectations. I'm happy to recommend.

C = This is an average Hallmark movie. Good holiday fun.

D = I'm disappointed... but I watched it. Why not?

F = I actually had a hard time getting through this one. And that says a lot.
