Christmas in Vienna | B

Kind of sweet... but way too Sound of Music

In this movie, Jess is a professional violinist performing in Vienna for Christmas. She finds herself babysitting the three children of a diplomat who lost his wife and works a lot. (Think The Sound of Music... sort of.) Jess and the kids develop an instant bond, and she rediscovers her love of the violin by teaching the youngest to play. She falls in love with the diplomat, too, but I'm not really sure why.

First, the scenery in this movie is beautiful. Vienna seems to be the perfect spot for Christmas, and most of the scenes are shot in breathtaking spaces. Aside from that, however, the story failed to hold my interest. There wasn't much chemistry between the two leads, and I was a little bored after the first hour. Given that, I should probably give the movie a C, but Vienna is quite beautiful, so it's a B.

Hallmark gets an A on: Vienna; the Opera House; her coat; the Wiener Riesenrad (the ferris wheel); the dress

Hallmark gets a D on: lack of chemistry; CGI snow; the final concert; not making me care enough

Grade: B

* Note Grading Scale:

A = This is seriously a good movie. It will remain on my DVR for the season.

B = Totally exceeded my expectations. I'm happy to recommend.

C = This is an average Hallmark movie. Good holiday fun.

D = I'm disappointed... but I watched it. Why not?

F = I actually had a hard time getting through this one. And that says a lot.
