Hallmark Channel Premiere | November 26, 2020

I spy some architecting! (He must have taken a drafting class in high school.)

Annie is a lawyer whose parents own a diner, The Starlight Cafe. Evil developers plan to demolish the cafe, but Annie will use Christmas spirit to save it. Of course, she falls for one of the evil developers (Paul Campbell) in the process.

Kimberley Sustad (Annie) stars in one of my all-time favorite Hallmark Christmas movies, The Nine Lives of Christmas, and I enjoyed her in this one as well. There is a lot of fun writing in this movie, and the pairing of Sustad and Campbell works. (Fun fact- they wrote the movie together!) Despite this, it was a solidly average Hallmark movie. I could have watched the first ten minutes and skipped the rest, because I knew exactly how it would turn out. However, as Hallmark fans, we come to expect this, so I'm not mad. I am, however, mad at the "inspired" rendering that incorporates a modern glass facade with the historical pre-existing buildings. It's truly awful. If Hallmark continues to be obsessed with architects, they should hire a real one to help them with these things.

On another note- Candace Cameron Bure's headband is getting on my nerves.

Hallmark gets an A on: Annie's PJs; Kimberley Sustad (Annie); the wardrobe; the gingerbread house; the dress; the prom/graduation pictures

Hallmark gets a D on: predictability; the awful rendering

Grade: C

* Note Grading Scale:

A = This is seriously a good movie. It will remain on my DVR for the season.

B = Totally exceeded my expectations. I'm happy to recommend.

C = This is an average Hallmark movie. Good holiday fun.

D = I'm disappointed... but I watched it. Why not?

F = I actually had a hard time getting through this one. And that says a lot.
