The movie begins in 1903 in the mansion of Charles Whitley, a successful businessman. Charles is engaged to Eliza, but it is obviously a bad match. He is soon transported, through the magic of a Christmas clock, to the year 2020. His mansion has become a museum, and the town remembers him as the man who mysteriously disappeared in December over 100 years ago. Charles meets Megan, a historian who not only works at the museum but also wrote her dissertation about him. When Charles convinces Megan that he is, in fact, from the past, they work together to figure out how to get him back to his time.
I fully expected this movie to be terrible. I didn't like the idea of Christmas time travel, and I figured it would be trite and silly. I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed the characters, was entertained by the story, and would probably watch it again.
Hallmark gets an A on: Ryan Paevey (Charles); Erin Cahill (Megan); the wardrobe; the small town; the ending
Hallmark gets a D on: the time puns
Grade: A
* Note Grading Scale:
A = This is seriously a good movie. It will remain on my DVR for the season.
B = Totally exceeded my expectations. I'm happy to recommend.
C = This is an average Hallmark movie. Good holiday fun.
D = I'm disappointed... but I watched it. Why not?
F = I actually had a hard time getting through this one. And that says a lot.
