This movie needs A Christmas Miracle | D

Hallmark Movies and Mysteries Premiere | November 14, 2019

In this movie, Emma and her son move from Georgia to Denver for Emma's new job opportunity at Lifestyle Magazine. To impress her editor and inspire her son, she chases a real-life Christmas miracle as a feature story for December. Emma, along with love interest and photographer Marcus, completely invades the privacy of a sweet old street musician who asks her to leave him alone. She interviews his former colleagues, researches him on the Internet, and stalks his daughter to find out why they no longer speak. Then she suggests that his daughter might forgive him for being an absent father if he plays a Christmas Eve concert in the park. Oh- and she writes an article about him so that she can capitalize on his heartache. While the final scene is sort of touching, the whole plot makes me pretty uncomfortable.

Say "cheese"

Hallmark gets an A on: writing (some good one-liners); grilled cheese sandwiches (they look amazing)

Hallmark gets a D on: naming their faux Google "SEARCH" (total lack of creativity here); CGI snow; lack of major conflict; manufactured fight at dinner that makes no sense; lackluster romance; flat characters; making it seem okay to completely invade someone's privacy even after they ask you not to; naming the movie "A Christmas Miracle" when there is nothing even close to a miracle in the movie

Naming a search engine "Search" just feels lazy

Grade: D

* Note Grading Scale:

A = This is seriously a good movie. It will remain on my DVR for the season.

B = Totally exceeded my expectations. I'm happy to recommend.

C = This is an average Hallmark movie. Good holiday fun.

D = I'm disappointed... but I watched it. Why not?

F = I actually had a hard time getting through this one. And that says a lot.

You nailed this one. Kept hoping it would get better. Got a little misty when violinist played Silent Night, probably only good scene in film.
