Hallmark Channel Premiere | November 26, 2019
In this movie, Julia takes a break from lawyering in New York to return home to her family's Colorado inn for the holidays. She immediately connects with Ryan, the son of her father's direct competitor. In fact, their families have been feuding for generations. In other words:
Julia Crawley = Juliet Capulet
Ryan Mason = Romeo Montague
Do you see what they did there?
For the record, I am so glad that this movie did not end the way that Shakespeare wrote it. That would not have been very festive.

This movie was adorable, and it had some elements that we have not seen before. I enjoyed the feuding families, and the little Christmas competitions were amusing. The characters were likeable, the dialogue made me laugh, and the story was fun and unique enough to keep me interested. I enjoyed it so much that I believe Shakespeare should have written an evil developer into his most popular play.
Hallmark gets an A on: story; train travel; Christmas take-out boxes; Richard Karn (aka Al Borland); snowball toss (so dumb, but somehow cute); well-made snowballs; Grandma; wardrobe; necklaces; hair; the mayor; Christmas trivia; cute baking scene with both families; her dress
Hallmark gets a D on: they put poinsettias outside again
Grade: B+
* Note Grading Scale:
A = This is seriously a good movie. It will remain on my DVR for the season.
B = Totally exceeded my expectations. I'm happy to recommend.
C = This is an average Hallmark movie. Good holiday fun.
D = I'm disappointed... but I watched it. Why not?
F = I actually had a hard time getting through this one. And that says a lot.
